Gene Weinbeck is known locally as an entrepreneur. He started a computer business in West Plains, Missouri in the 1980s that evolved into FundRaiser Software. Not having any business experience, he made lots of mistakes, but the business survived. With lessons learned and a desire to help other would-be entrepreneurs, he co-founded the Ozarks Small Business Incubator. He loves working with small “mom’n’pop” businesses and pre-businesses.
He now coordinates the mentoring activities at OzSBI, including recruitment, training, and expansion of the program to the surrounding counties. As a business mentor, he works especially in the areas of customer relations, cash flow projections, marketing, and bootstrapping your business. Gene rides his eBike to work, is an avid composter, plays poker with his ManScout buddies, and serves on several nonprofit boards. He is also an alternative minister who loves officiating at weddings and other ceremonies for people who want something special, but not conventionally religious or religious at all.
He is also working at developing his awareness of the deep and subtle cultural differences between people on the planet, becoming more sensitive to annoying aspects of racism and entitlement mentalities that show up in his behavior, and learning about history from a BIPOC perspective.
